Meeting Reviews 2025

Monday 4th February 

Today we had a lively , amusing talk by Janey Howell, the retiring High Sheriff of Glamorgan. She kept us entertained with her funny stories of her time as High Sheriff. 

Ponthir W.I. have been very busy knitting hats and teddies for the Seaman’s mission. Aren’t they all amazing?


Monday 3rd March

We had a lively,  interesting and informative talk by Malcolm Phillips about the history of St Woolos cathedral from Saxon times to the present day. The majority of us have visited St Woolos cathedral, but after the talk, most of us want to visit again, in the near future. 
As our meeting was at the beginning of March, we thought it would be nice to celebrate our patron saint – St David, by having a competition for the best Welsh artefact. 
We collected a large amount of food for the Newport food bank.

Monday 7th April

Today we had a very interesting and informative talk about the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran by Jim Keech.  We learnt about the history of the theatre , some of the famous people who have performed there and the various groups who use the theatre. We also discovered through a Power point presentation that there has been a lot of work done recently at the theatre to improve the facilities
